Faith Community Organisation — Pacific Northwest chapter of a globally organised network present in 200+ countries

View live site
3+ years in active productionPart of a global network in 200+ countriesZero manual content updates required post-launch

The Situation Before

An outdated website untouched for years — broken pages, no mobile optimisation, no events integration. Community events lived in a Google Calendar no one knew to check. Prayer times either absent or manually updated. No clear path for interfaith visitors, school groups, or journalists to arrange a visit. Key community resources scattered or missing entirely. No high-traffic seasonal content for the year's busiest search period.

What Was Built

Google Calendar API Integration (custom plugin)

Live event sync from the organisation's existing Google Calendar. Administrators manage events once. The website updates automatically. Recurring weekly events display correctly. Past events auto-remove. Built with the Google Calendar API, a custom WordPress plugin, and performance caching.

Automated Prayer Times Widget

Calculates all five daily prayer times based on the location's coordinates and the organisation's specific calculation method. Updates automatically every day. Zero manual input required after launch. Displayed on both the homepage and a dedicated times page.

Visit Request System

Structured intake form for interfaith visitors, school groups, and media. Collects visit purpose, preferred dates, and group size. Routes to the correct contact. Reduced friction for visitors; gave the organisation advance notice to prepare.

Community Resource Architecture

Clean, explained navigation to key member portals, programme registrations, and community services. Full interfaith visitor section. Dedicated humanitarian partnership section serving the local area.

Seasonal High-Traffic Content Hub

Time-sensitive programming, schedules, educational content, and community events — built and optimised for the year's highest-traffic seasonal search period. Content pulls live from the calendar integration.

Tech Stack

WordPress · Custom theme · Google Calendar API (custom plugin) · Custom JavaScript prayer times widget · Contact Form 7 · Plugin audit (50+ evaluated) · Image optimisation · Caching · Fully responsive

The Outcome

Community members find accurate information automatically — no manual updates by administrators. Visitors and interfaith guests have a clear path to arrange a visit. The site has been running continuously in production for over three years.
